MAXIMUS Contributes $20,000 to Memorial Fund for Charleston Shooting Victims


RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MAXIMUS (NYSE: MMS), a leading provider of government services worldwide, announced today that the MAXIMUS Foundation has made a donation of $20,000 in employee contributions and corporate matching funds to the Lowcountry Ministries – Reverend Pinckney Fund, established in coordination with the nonprofit Palmetto Project and the City of Charleston, supporting South Carolina communities working toward systemic change that can lead to greater social and economic equality.

As the philanthropic arm of MAXIMUS, the MAXIMUS Foundation extends the mission of the Company by identifying and awarding grants to nonprofit organizations with specialized expertise to deliver results within the same populations and communities served by the public programs MAXIMUS operates. The MAXIMUS Foundation is completely funded by MAXIMUS and its employees, and provides grants to community organizations with programs and projects in the areas of child and youth development, health and community development.

Donations provided by the MAXIMUS Foundation support the communities where Reverend Pinckney served as a pastor and community leader. “In these communities, one in three children is reported to suffer from hunger, while a majority of adults are without health insurance or Medicaid…These are all rural areas that lack industrial or economic engines on which short-term growth can be constructed,” according to Steve Skardon, Executive Director of the Palmetto Project, in a recent press release.

While the Palmetto Project’s Board of Directors is managing the Lowcountry Ministries – Reverend Pinckney Fund, its priorities will be guided by advisors comprised of Reverend Pinckney’s colleagues, friends, family, and community stakeholders. Among those priorities are youth and children, human needs, health and access to care, and economic opportunity, all of which align with the mission of the MAXIMUS Foundation.
