RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MAXIMUS, Inc. (NYSE:MMS), a leading provider of government services worldwide, announced today that it has launched its Health Insurance Exchange ("Exchange") offerings to help states address the federal regulatory requirements under the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Under ACA, states are required to establish an operational Exchange to offer qualified health insurance plans to individuals and small businesses by January 1, 2014. As a leading administrative provider in helping states run health insurance programs, MAXIMUS provides solutions to help states assess, design, implement and operate a cost-effective and efficient Exchange that meets all federal and state requirements. With extensive experience with Medicaid, CHIP and other unique state-designed programs, MAXIMUS provides objective services designed to improve program operations and maximize consumer choice.
To help states meet the Department of Health and Human Services "readiness determination" deadline of January 1, 2013 and the health insurance exchange "go-live" deadline of January 1, 2014, the MAXIMUS Exchange solutions focus on three key areas:
-- Assessment solutions to help states analyze their current infrastructure, translate the federal requirements to their unique situations, and develop a best fit strategy -- Operations support to take this custom strategy and provide the necessary technology and program management support to implement an effective Exchange that addresses governance, eligibility determination, linkage to other major subsidized programs, customer support and educational outreach -- Quality-related services to help states ensure that the technology and operational components of the Exchange and supporting systems are developed and deployed in an optimal manner, protect consumer rights, independently review health plan and provider decisions for compliance with federal and state requirements, and continuously evaluate program processes and outcomes
"State leaders must make critical decisions regarding how they extend health insurance coverage through an Exchange," commented Bruce Caswell, President and General Manager of MAXIMUS Health Services. "Our Exchange solutions utilize our extensive government health insurance program experience to apply best practices that address each state's unique challenges of expanding coverage and meeting the federal requirements."
MAXIMUS will formally introduce its Exchange solutions in an upcoming informational webinar, "Health Insurance Exchanges: Lessons Learned and Considerations for the Consumer Experience" this Friday, July 9th from 2:00 to 3:00 PM (ET). This webinar is a continuation of the MAXIMUS Webinar Series, which will focus primarily on health care reform over the next several months. The one-hour webinars include a discussion forum for questions and answers. To register or receive additional information, contact webinars@maximus.com or call 703-251-8398.
