MAXIMUS to Share Insights About New Medicaid Beneficiary Requirements and Long-Term Care Assessments at Medicaid Enterprise Systems Conference

RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MAXIMUS (NYSE: MMS), a leading provider of government services worldwide, announced today that Jan Ruff, Senior Vice President of Health Services for MAXIMUS, and Nancy Shanley, Vice President of Ascend, a MAXIMUS Company, will be featured presenters at the annual Medicaid Enterprise Systems (MES) Conference.

Ms. Ruff will examine what the new Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements mean for state Medicaid programs during the “Options for States to Comply with New Beneficiary-Related Medicaid Managed Care Requirements” session. The session will highlight the gaps among current processes and systems and the new requirements. Ms. Ruff will be co-presenting with Samantha Rutledge-Wolf, Manager of Managed Care System Operations Section for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

Ms. Shanley will participate in a panel during the “A Data-Centric Approach to Transform Medicaid Outcomes” session. She will present alongside other experts on how to use data and analytics to drive improvements in state Medicaid programs. Ms. Shanley will share how an automated assessment system reduced costs by lowering the need for in-person screenings, improved assessment quality, and reduced the time between a patient’s hospital discharge and nursing home admission. Ms. Shanley will be co-presenting with Lila Starr, the Pre-Admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR) Program Manager for the Iowa Department of Human Services.

“We’re excited to showcase how MAXIMUS is helping advance the goals of state Medicaid programs and their leaders through new technologies and program transformations,” said Bruce Caswell, President of MAXIMUS. “Through our partnerships with states and deep understanding of how to serve Medicaid and long-term care program participants, MAXIMUS has helped states develop and implement strategies that achieve compliance with the new mandates, lower cost, and improve beneficiary outcomes.”

The annual Medicaid Enterprise Systems Conference is a meeting for state, federal and private sector representatives to exchange ideas about Medicaid systems and related health policies. The conference will take place August 15-18 at the America’s Center in St. Louis, Missouri. To learn more, visit mesconference.org.
