“This is a tremendous honor for MAXIMUS and demonstrates our commitment to disability inclusion and hiring,” said Joe Raposa, Project Director, Standardized Operations & Analytics. “We look forward to expanding our relationship with DARS and making strides in disability employment across our footprint.”

Also recognized by DARS at the award ceremony was John Wikan, a Customer Service Representative (CSR) at the Company’s Hampton, VA site, as a Consumer of the Year. John started working for MAXIMUS in August of 2018 as a part-time CSR and was converted to a MAXIMUS employee at the start of 2019. The Hampton site worked with John and his sponsoring agency to modify his workstation space and accommodated his part-time work schedule. MAXIMUS is delighted to have an exceptional employee like John as part of our Company.

During the October 3 award ceremony, MAXIMUS was among seven companies recognized at the Champions of Disability Employment event that honors area employers for their outstanding commitment to hiring and supporting people with disabilities in the workplace. DARS hosts the Champions of Disability Employment each October in alignment with National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
