MAXIMUS awarded North East Yorkshire and Humber Work Programme contract

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced that the contract for its flagship Work Programme in North East Yorkshire and the Humber has been awarded to MAXIMUS, one of the programme’s leading providers.

MAXIMUS succeeds NCG and will formally take over the running of the Work Programme across North East Yorkshire and the Humber from 2 February 2015. MAXIMUS currently delivers the Work Programme in West London, the Thames Valley, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

DWP figures published in September show the Work Programme has helped more than 330,000 people into a job they have held for at least six months. Research published in September by the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA) has also shown the Work Programme will deliver £18 billion in value to the economy during the lives of jobseekers on the programme.

Chris Blackwell, Managing Director of MAXIMUS Human Services, said:

“The Work Programme has been successful in helping hundreds of thousands of people find work across the UK. MAXIMUS has played a major role in its success and we look forward to delivering high quality services in North East Yorkshire and the Humber.

“We will be working closely with partners to make sure that jobseekers in the area have every support they need to find and secure sustainable employment.”
