MAXIMUS to Share Insights on New Strategies for Long-Term Care Programs at the Council of State Governments Medicaid Policy Academy Summit
RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MAXIMUS (NYSE: MMS), a leading provider of government services worldwide, announced today that Barbara Selter, Vice President, will be a featured presenter at the Council of State Governments Medicaid Policy Academy Summit on Long-Term Care.
Ms. Selter will be presenting during the session titled “A Panel Discussion on Promising State Programs.” She will highlight states that have implemented forward-thinking strategies for their long-term care (LTC) programs that could be used as models for other states. Ms. Selter will focus on her experience working with numerous state programs to re-design their processes in order to optimize service delivery for LTC populations. She will present best practices that were identified through the MAXIMUS support of 9 of the 11 Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Financial Alignment Demonstrations for Medicare-Medicaid Eligibles, also commonly referred to as the Dual Eligibles demonstrations. As part of these demonstrations, MAXIMUS offered information to states seeking integrated care options for their dually eligible populations.
“Currently, two-thirds of people age 65 and older do not have sufficient financial assets to pay for even one year of nursing home services, and the number of people in this age range is expected to jump to 19 percent of the population – 72 million people – by 2030,” said Bruce Caswell, President of MAXIMUS. “Now is the time for states to address this anticipated increase in demand for long-term care services by finding new approaches to strengthen performance and improve efficiencies within their current LTC programs. Examining states with promising programs is a great way to highlight approaches that may allow other states to enhance their efforts.”
The Council of State Governments fosters the exchange of insights and ideas to help state officials shape public policy. Their Policy Academy on Medicaid, with a long-term care focus, will take place June 17-19, 2015 at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C. To learn more, visit www.csg.org/events.
