MAXIMUS to Share Insights on Using Technology to Enhance Long-Term Services and Supports at Iowa Governor’s Conference on Aging & Disabilities

RESTON, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- MAXIMUS (NYSE:MMS), a leading provider of government services worldwide, announced today that Barbara Selter, Vice President, Health Services, an expert in the coordination of long-term services and supports (LTSS), will be a featured presenter at the National Association of States United for Aging and Disabilities (NASUAD) Iowa Governor’s Conference on Aging & Disabilities and Managed Long-Term Services and Supports (MLTSS) Symposium.

Ms. Selter will speak on a panel titled “Tools for Aging at Home” with Tracy Keninger, Director, Rural Solutions and Assistive Technology Center at Easter Seals Iowa. Ms. Selter will discuss how advancements in technology can be used in the Medicaid waiver eligibility and enrollment process to help deliver services more quickly. She will also cover how new advancements in telecare can be partnered with hands-on services to enable seniors to stay in their homes longer, therefore improving quality of life and management of chronic conditions. Lastly, she will share how states can create career paths for their Welfare-to-Work candidates to become home health care workers, allowing them to gain meaningful employment while addressing the shortage of workers.

“States are striving to improve the quality of life and care for their LTSS populations, while finding efficiencies that enable them to support an ever-growing population,” said Barbara Selter. “Utilizing available technology can expedite the eligibility and enrollment processes and reduce institutionalization by enabling people to remain in their homes longer and improve their quality of life.”

The NASUAD Iowa Governor’s Conference on Aging & Disabilities takes place Monday, May 23 to Thursday, May 26 in Des Moines, Iowa.
