6. Acquisition-related expenses and legal and settlement expense (recoveries), net
Acquisition-related expenses are direct costs incurred as a consequence of the acquisition of PSI and include legal fees, brokerage fees, due diligence, valuation reports, contract terminations and severance.
Legal and settlement expense, net consists of significant legal settlements and non-routine matters, including probable future legal costs estimated to be incurred in connection with those matters, net of reimbursed insurance claims. Legal expenses incurred in the ordinary course of business are included in selling, general and administrative expense.
